3-year Postdoctoral postision available: Modeling resilience and critical thresholds in sea grass systems
There is an opening for a post-doctoral researcher to work with Kate O'Brien at the University of Queensland ( http://www.chemeng.uq.edu.au/obrien) to model seagrass dynamics, in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team. Seagrasses are a key indicator of ecological health in coastal waterways, and in decline worldwide due to a range of local, regional and global threats. This project will develop and apply dynamic models of seagrass biomass across multiple scales, to identify critical thresholds for seagrass loss and recovery. The researcher will join a team of interdisciplinary scientists spanning a number of institions and organizations. The position will also provide the opportunity to contribute to and develop other projects in the area of environmental modelling.
Applicants must have a PhD in a suitable branch of environmental modelling, and demonstrated abilities for independent and critical thinking, experience in ecological modelling, excellent mathematical, statistical and analytic skills and the demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary research teams.
